Community Inventor Spotlight: Rhett Lucas

This week, we shine the spotlight on Rhett Lucas, an inventor from Bartlesville, OK, whose story is a powerful example of persistence and innovation born from personal experience.

Rhett’s journey began with a football injury in high school that led to chronic lower back pain. In 2003, he had an idea, put it to the test, and in one night was able to eliminate his pain. Now, more than two decades later, Rhett has developed a product designed to help the overwhelming majority of people suffering from lower back pain.

New to the Inventor Smart Community, Rhett is eager to focus on growing his invention and is actively seeking advice and support to move forward. His story reminds us that great inventions often come from solving real, personal challenges.

On June 2, 1924, Philo Farnsworth — a true pioneer of television technology — made a major breakthrough by demonstrating the first fully electronic television system. Farnsworth’s invention laid the foundation for the way we communicate, entertain, and share information today.

Often called the “Father of Television,” Farnsworth developed a system that used electronic scanning to capture and display moving images, replacing mechanical systems and setting the stage for modern broadcasting.

His story is a reminder that innovation requires vision, persistence, and the courage to challenge the status quo. Farnsworth’s work transformed an idea into a technology that changed the world forever.
