👋 Hello Inventor Smart Community

October is in full swing — and with it comes fresh ideas, new connections, and plenty of inventive energy in the air. 🎃

This week kicks off with our Inventor Smart Community Meetup — a relaxed, open space to share what you’re working on and connect with others who get it. Whether you’re sketching your first concept or pitching your prototype, these conversations are where sparks turn into action.

We’re also welcoming new members into the community, spotlighting Ayman (AyUlltra) and his forward-thinking innovations at Physica-Labs, sharing a powerful Inventor Tip from Brian Fried, showcasing HeyGen, an AI tool changing how videos are made, and taking a quick look back in inventor history at Thomas Edison’s very first patent.

💡 Inventor Tip of the Week — Search Before You Spend

Before investing time or money into your invention, take a few hours to research what’s already out there. This simple step can save you thousands and help you refine your idea into something truly unique.

Brian Fried emphasizes that searching isn’t just about finding duplicates — it’s about learning from what exists. Look for products that solve the same problem, even if they don’t look like yours. Then ask yourself: What makes my idea different or better?

📌 Pro Tip:
Search your idea on Google, Amazon, and even Google Patents (patents.google.com). Use different descriptive keywords — not just your invention’s nickname or catchy name.

🎯 Action Step:
Dedicate a few hours this week to do a deep dive. Document every product or patent you find, and highlight what sets your idea apart. Knowing the landscape is the first real step toward making money with your invention.

🤖 AI Spotlight of the Week — HeyGen: Create Videos Without a Camera

What if you could turn a simple idea or script into a professional video — no camera, no crew, no editing required? That’s exactly what HeyGen does.

HeyGen is an all-in-one AI video generator that lets you create lifelike videos from just text, images, or audio. With its ultra-realistic AI avatars, natural-sounding voiceovers, and multilingual translation tools, you can produce 4K videos that look and sound like real humans — perfect for product demos, pitch decks, explainers, or onboarding videos.

Want to stay on brand? Upload your logo, fonts, and colors so every video matches your company’s style. You can even clone your own voice or generate an AI avatar that speaks for you — so you never have to be on camera again.

📌 Use it to:
Create video pitches, prototype explainers, or marketing clips in minutes — all with your own AI spokesperson.

🧭 Inventor Resource of the Week — USPTO Patent Search Tool

Before you file, pitch, or prototype — it’s smart to see what’s already out there. The USPTO Patent Search Tool lets you explore official U.S. patents and published applications to learn how other inventors solved similar problems and where your idea stands in the market.

Getting comfortable with this tool not only sharpens your invention but also gives you confidence when talking to manufacturers, investors, or attorneys.
