1942 – Hedy Lamarr Patent
On this same day in 1942, actress‑inventor Hedy Lamarr, along with composer George Antheil, was granted a patent for a radio-guidance system using frequency hopping to protect torpedoes from jamming—an idea that laid the groundwork for today’s Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi technologies.
