End of Year Check-In for Inventors

A steady look at what matters most as the year winds down — and what to carry forward.

H.Q. Weekly #51

The end of the year always brings two things at once.
The calendar fills up — travel, family, conversations, noise. At the same time, the energy starts to turn inward. Less push. More reflection. You can feel it even while things are still moving fast.

For inventors, this moment matters. It’s when ideas get reviewed instead of chased. When progress gets measured honestly. When you decide what’s worth carrying forward — and what’s not.

Before the calendar turns, we wanted to pause with you for a moment — to reset perspective and carry a few grounded truths into what comes next.

We’re grateful for this community of inventors, entrepreneurs, builders, and makers. Your curiosity and persistence continue to inspire us.

Truth #1: Progress Comes From Action, Not Certainty

Momentum doesn’t start with confidence. It starts with movement.

The inventors who moved forward didn’t wait to feel ready. They asked questions, talked to customers, searched the market, and learned by doing. Each step created clarity for the next one.

Action turns uncertainty into information.

Truth #2: Research Is Time Well Spent

Research isn’t a delay — it’s protection.

Inventors who searched existing products, reviewed patents, and understood their market early avoided expensive mistakes later. Strong ideas hold up under scrutiny. Weak ones reveal themselves quickly.

Either way, research saves time.

Over the next year, Roku predicts that 100% of the streaming audience will see ads. For growth marketers in 2026, CTV will remain an important “safe space” as AI creates widespread disruption in the search and social channels. Plus, easier access to self-serve CTV ad buying tools and targeting options will lead to a surge in locally-targeted streaming campaigns.

Read our guide to find out why growth marketers should make sure CTV is part of their 2026 media mix.

Truth #3: Letting Go Is Part of Moving Forward

Not every idea is meant to continue — and that’s not failure.

Some of the smartest moves this year were decisions to pause, pivot, or move on after doing the homework. Letting go creates space for better opportunities.

Focus is built through choice.

Truth #4: Momentum Grows Faster in Community

Inventing is hard. Doing it alone makes it harder.

Inventors who stayed connected — asking questions, sharing progress, listening to feedback — made stronger decisions with fewer blind spots. Community doesn’t just support momentum. It sharpens it.

We see that every week in this community.

Truth #5: The Long Game Rewards Steady Builders

There are no shortcuts that last.

The inventors best positioned to succeed weren’t rushing. They were learning the steps, staying organized, and continuing forward… even when progress felt slow.

Consistency compounds.

Carrying It Forward

As the year winds down, thank you for being here.

Thank you for showing up, staying curious, and continuing to build, even when things feel unfinished or uncertain. Inventors, entrepreneurs, builders, and makers like you are the reason this community exists.

You don’t need to rush into the next idea.
You don’t need to carry everything forward.
Just keep making smart, grounded decisions — one step at a time.

We’ll be here in the new year, ready to keep building with you.
